Shelley Davey is an outstanding teacher. Her understanding of mathematics and of the current syllabus is excellent but she also has tremendous insight. Shelley takes time to understand her pupil / tutee, to really perceive where the limitation in understanding lies. She is kind but also speaks with conviction and candour. I cannot rate her care and teaching highly enough. She is truly inspiring and an amazing role model for teaching.

Shelley is an amazing tutor, she has an incredible understanding of the syllabus and the subject itself. Not only that but she is extremely patient and is willing to go over any question as many times as needed. Even during meltdowns over class tests or exams, Shelley is always calm and collected, offering reassurance when needed. I struggled in class to follow the teacher during longer questions, but Shelley lays out each step clearly with colour coordination. I’m indebted to her and wish her all the best in the future.

I had Shelley as a maths teacher since I started secondary school, aged 11 right until I finished at 16. I had very little confidence in myself when it came to maths lessons and did not particularly enjoy the subject. Since I met her, Shelley never let me give up on myself. Together as a pair, we found different methods of explanation to ensure I fully understood what was going on. She understood that I was a visual and physical learner. For example, Shelley used different tools such as coloured blocks, pictures and bright coloured pens to help explain things to me. With her patience, calmness and kindness, Shelley ensured that everyone in my class had one to one attention. I was never afraid to say that I was stuck or unsure of something, she would go at a slow pace and stuck with me until I understood. Shelley is now more than a maths teacher to me, she is a friend as well. She gave me confidence in myself and everyone else in my class to believe that we could do what we set out to do. I passed my GCSE maths and I can honestly say, hand on heart, I would not have done if it wasn't for Shelley's tutoring!

Shelley is a fantastic Maths teacher. Not only does she encourage my daughter to believe in her own abilities, she also makes her tutoring fun and interesting. Shelley has given Agnes a solid confidence in Maths that has seen her through into secondary school. Agnes is now an able pupil in top set thanks to her brilliant Maths Tutor, Shelley Davey.

Shelley taught my daughter over a number of months in order to help get her through her GCSE maths. She was struggling and lacking in confidence but all that changed pretty quickly under Shelley’s patient and enthusiastic guidance. They went back to basics to find out where the problems lay and built the solid foundations needed in order to master the more complicated techniques. It was invaluable time spent undoing what she was doing wrong and reinstating a belief that she could do it. I’m pleased to report back that my daughter sat her maths paper and passed with one of the highest scores in her group. I can’t recommend Shelley enough. She clearly loves what she does and that positive energy passes on to her students.
